RE: Exceeded expectations... Have your say about Bibliophile

The young lady on the right (picture was included in email) is called Freya Chambers and she was five on Sunday (16th).
And when my wife and I called her on the phone to wish her a happy birthday, all she wanted
to say, quite unprompted, was "Oh Granddad, Grandma, my Princesses book is really, really
lovely. It's really lovely. Thank you. It's really lovely." And she very clearly meant it; she wasn't
expecting our call and therefore hadn't been rehearsing!

So I hope that one day my wife and I may get to see the book. It's obviously going to be a bit
of a treasure, so it may get looked after!

But much of its success as a very special birthday present was due to your own great kindness
and generosity in arranging for its delivery to be delayed until only four days before Freya's
birthday. So it came as a very genuine surprise to the whole family and helped to really light
up their Sunday.

Thank you so very much for making such a difference. As I said at the beginning of this note,
thank you for being so special. We hope Annie appreciates you as much as we all do. I've
half a mind to write to tell her that.

Very, very sincerely,

John and Faouzia Chambers

Dear Mrs Frederick,

I am quite definitely sure I will not be the only one of Bibliophile's customers who think you are
very, very special and who know how lucky we are to have you looking after us. But I hope it
does no harm for us to say it.

RE: Exceeded expectations... Have your say about Bibliophile

I have another friend who has just seen a copy of one of my Bibliophile catalogues (No 295)
and asks what he has to do to "join this amazing Bibliophile". Again I have to had to tell him
that I'm sure there will be "an official way", except that I have thrown away the paperwork in
which the new edition arrived ... but there is a wonderful Mrs Frederick who seems always
so patiently willing to help.

Hi Annie thanx for including me as a friend.
I know you because I have been a member of Bibliophile for some time, because your company has supplied me with books I didn't think I could own.
Your company enables book lovers to love, & cherish, more books.
I was taught to look & learn, but also that books were for life. For example they treat you with respect, which means that you, the reader, should do the same.
One of my greatest hates is when people bend the corners of pages to show where they have reached in said book. Damaging books is gross misbehaviour. Keep up the good work. Ben Dawes on our Facebook page today

RE: Exceeded expectations... Have your say about Bibliophile

I'm an long-time customer and recommend Bibliophile at the drop of a hat. The site looks much more professional, and it's *wonderful *to be able to adjust the number of books displayed on a page.

Whilst I read the paper catalogue thoroughly, I've been regularly ordering books through this site. I must say though that I've just passed an hour--increasingly annoyed--sorting an order of only 8 books. The new search requires going to a page where one must delete keyword (what is a keyword? doesn't seem to be number, title, or author) and re-enter search term. Titles taken from the (great) 'New Arrivals' can't be got to from a search, and in fact one book from catalogue and one from 'Lucky Dip' weren't accessible through search. I found myself twitching between list of product numbers I'd made from catalogue, lucky dip, and new arrivals trying to find those books The layout of the new payment page so little catches the eye that I received two (different) error warnings before I even noticed that expiration date had been required, and my address, which had before been consistently correct, was incomplete and, though I live in Ireland, a second shipping address in UK was listed. After finally placing order, this all seemed of a piece with receiving 3 copies of the catalogue in the post a couple of days ago . . .

This isn't an indignant complaint--after all, now I've an excuse for a stiffer-than-usual nightcap--but a pointing out of something you mightn't know about. As I said, I'm a great fan, and because most of the fiction that I read is works in translation I'm especially pleased that you carry such titles. Cheers, and good luck.

Thank you for your Forum post. Please accept our sincere apologies for the difficulties you have experienced on our new website.

With regard to the quick search function – it searches for the data entered into this field in the book description only. We quite agree that this is not useful and so we have amended the site design to remove the Quick Search and replaced it with a plain search box which looks at the whole site and not just the book descriptions. I have tested this search box myself and it will find books by any keyword, the product code, author or title (including titles that are in the New Arrivals category). Perhaps you would like to give it a try next time you visit the site and let me know if you experience any problem. We have also left in the Advanced Search and are speaking to our developers to find the reason why it does not pick up the titles in the New Arrivals section.

With regard to the payment page – unfortunately we are unable to change the design as it is provided by our card authorising company. I will however pass your comments to them and perhaps in future maintenance/upgrades they will redesign the page to make the messages more prominent.

I have searched our database and have found two accounts in your name – I wonder if you still have the order forms that came with your catalogues? If so, would it be possible to email the three account numbers to me (customercare@bibliophilebooks.com) ? I can then investigate further and also ensure that you receive only one copy of the catalogue in future.
Kind Regards

Having just replied Ms McDaid's email, I came here to remark that she and Bibliophile responded rapiidly, gracefully, and very helpfully to my previous post. Now that I see her reply is also a post here, you can see all that for yourselves.

Bibliophile is a great resource for obscure books - it has been a gold-mine for me as a writer, needing research into odd subjects. -Stephen Weeks.
