FIFTY THINGS TO DO IN THE SNOW

Winter brings infinite gifts of knowledge and connection to the natural world as well as an opportunity for self-connection, rest and growth. Covering equipment and staying safe, here is playing in the snow with sledges, treasure hunts, forts, mazes, ramps, howling at the Moon and for the more crafty winter mandalas, slingshots, snow painting, winter mobiles and birdfeeders and snow lanterns. If you lean into it, we can enjoy the hexagonal ice crystals forming on branches in more and more detail and the unique shape of a snowflake dictated by its path. Winter Wisdom comes under the microscope with ice bathing, conifer identification, seeing the Northern Lights, and Winter Solstice among them. Under Survival we learn to make snowshoes, navigation, tracking and foraging, igloos and quinzees, crossing ice, and finding water plus finding firewood, a Swedish log fire, making a qulliq (traditional oil lamp used by the Inuit) to pewter casting, evergreen tea, fireside stories and Mexican Hot Chocolate. A warm love letter to the white stuff with 50 great ideas to inspire you to step outside. 144 beautifully decorated pages in icy blue.
