CROCHET PILLOWS

CROCHET PILLOWS

SHARON HERNES SILVERMAN    Book Number: 89916    Product format: Paperback

Sub-titled 'With Tunisian and Traditional Techniques' the book is designed for people who are comfortable with basic crochet stitches - chin, single crochet, double crochet - and if you have not done Tunisian crochet before, now is the time! The book has 20 patterns, ten that use traditional techniques and ten mainly Tunisian, arranged in order of increasing difficulty and with step-by-step photos to supplement the detailed instructions. The mitered squares are like magic, they look complicated but are actually quite simple to make using variegated yarn with long colour runs like the example in a pastel palette with hues of a spring sunrise of pale pinks to blue. Sophisticated chevrons in black, white, pewter and linen in fine-gauge yarn contrasts with the multiple colours and chunky yarn for the easy woven floor cushion, a black background with multicoloured yarn stripes. The loop-de-loop is similar to the Furry Fun cushion where the loops have been snipped and worked in columns, fantastic to jazz up any room. There is a cable stitch cushion, a royal purple, cross stitch embellishments of JOY or LOVE, a chequerboard, a red hot heart used by 'felting' turning wool into a matted fabric by wetting, softening and agitating the fibres to make a three-dimensional heart embellishment. The word 'pillow' is the American term for cushion, and also included here is a Honeycomb bolster, a spiral flower and a sunburst cushion. With helpful hints on stuffing and closing your finished soft furnishings. 118pp, softback, glossy colour photos.
