MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS HIDDEN TREASURES

MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS HIDDEN TREASURES

ADRIAN BESLEY    Book Number: 89695    Product format: Hardback

Slipcased first edition containing envelopes packed with hidden treasures, 16 items in facsimile documents of original sketches together with all crossings out and amendments in handwriting reproduced almost as if you were there. Camera, action, sound, typed scripts take us to memorable moments and includes 'Cowardly Boxing' written for Series One but never used, 'We-We Wine Tasting', probably the most notorious of the sketches that never made it into the show, and a previously unpublished section of 'Ursula Hitler' which was cut from the very last episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus. And that's just for starters. There is a colourful timeline, foreword by the Pythons themselves, Graham Chapman, Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin, John Cleese and Eric Idle. In 2014 and with a combined age of 357, they performed ten nights to more than 150,000 people at the O2. A brilliant swansong to a group of comedic geniuses and our dear friend Terry's last public performance. Early period photographs include inspiring older hands like Ronnie Corbett and Ronnie Barker, Marty Feldman and Tim Brooke-Taylor. The Nude Organist, Terry Gilliam's brilliant collages, The Lumberjack Song in full and with a QR code to scan to watch it. If Series One made an impact, with audiences averaging around three million, Series Two went on to scale new heights. The Ministry of Silly Walks (again watch with the QR code), and short biogs, from the archives reproduced in facsimile are many of the pages of the sketches: Spanish Inquisition, SPAM, Fliegender Zirkus, the Pepperpots with lots of bloomers and looking up skirts, Llamas, the Fish-Slapping Dance, the Money Song, Argument Clinic, the Man Who Speaks in Anagrams, Travel Agent, the Cheese Shop with free scratch and sniff beginning with Red Leicester down to Limburger, the Gumbys, the Flying Circus in America, Live at Drury Lane 1974, New York City 1976. Tons of rude words and hilarious archive colour and black and white photographs throughout. Splendid, rare, removable facsimile memorabilia, this is priceless.
