QUILLING: 20 Beautiful Designs

SENA RUNA    Book Number: 89659    Product format: Paperback

Quilling is the term used for making decorative artworks from strips of paper, usually by coiling them and then enclosing the coil in a framework. Exploding in popularity in the past 20 years, quilling can be mastered easily, and these 20 projects are arranged in order of difficulty to encourage those new to the craft. Quilling can form the basis of cards or framed pictures or just be hung as a decoration in its own right. A section on techniques and tools helps you to prepare, and the projects themselves have clear step-by-step photographs and actual-size templates. A rainbow made from coloured paper with quilled clouds attached is simple and striking, while a stylised tree is really delightful with its jagged bark and leaves in a variety of shades of green, some of them enclosing coils to express unfurling. A geometric pinwheel with different coloured sails looks much more sophisticated than you would expect from the relatively simple instructions. A layered ice-cream is a marvellous confection of waves, scrolls and coils, a swan is elegant in muted shades of green and gold, and a torpedo-shaped shark is a streamlined sensation. More challenging models include a hot-air balloon, mandala, llama, dragon and prancing unicorn. Fully illustrated in colour.
