Bibliophile price: £2.50
A totally touchy feely book, the like of which we have never before seen on Bibliophile. Irresistible! With a peep-hole front cover, the classic Holbein Portrait of Henry VIII aged 49, (1540) is reproduced in a golden frame, but best of all are two red and one golden woven braid around his neck which you can actually touch and feel. The Ermine Portrait of Queen Elizabeth I 1585 by Nicholas Hilliard has a real golden crown to touch. A brave knight has a red velvet horse's cape and Edward Sackville pink furry slippers no less! A grand duchess has real white feathered plumes and the focal point, the tiny princess in Velazquez's Las Meninas has a real cream silk skirt attached. Artworks by Goya, and Raphael conclude, each with a different textured item to brush, hug, poke or pat. An exciting way for youngsters aged 5-10 to be introduced to art, or for adult collectors of children's novelty books. A board book, colour.
