ANOTHER SIDE OF BOB DYLAN: A Personal History

ANOTHER SIDE OF BOB DYLAN: A Personal History

VICTOR MAYMUDES    Book Number: 85650    Product format: Hardback

Victor Maymudes was Bob Dylan's tour manager at the beginning of his musical career in the early 1960s and he left behind 24 hours of audio tapes chronicling his relationship with Bob Dylan, Dennis Hopper, Joan Baez, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, David Crosby, Tom Petty and others in his inner circle of friends. Victor was Dylan's companion in New York's Greenwich Village through to the late 1990s when he re-joined as tour manager from 1986-1996. He died at the age of just 65 in 2001, leaving behind these tapes for his son to publish. Recorded in one night in the middle of a turbulent year in his life, Bob Dylan released his fourth album 'Another Side of Bob Dylan' which marked a departure from his socially conscious folk songs and began his evolution in other directions. During the years they spent together, there were few people outside of Dylan's immediate family closer than Victor Maymudes. He recounts landmark events including Dylan's infamous motorcycle crash, meeting the Beatles and introducing them to a pure and very giggly cannabis on their first US tour, his marriage to Sara Lownds, his romances with Suze Rotolo, Joan Baez and others, and his friendships including with Dennis Hopper and the Travelling Wilburys, plus more memorable concerts and insights on Dylan's song writing process. With never-before-seen photographs, Victor in his booming voice is an engaging raconteur, a real cool dude who knew everybody and was popular with everybody. 288pp, illus, some colour.
