JAMES TRILLING     Book Number: 81354    Product format: Paperback

From the much revered and heavyweight quality Thames & Hudson World of Art series, here is a decorative arts classic. From the Palaeolithic to the present day, here is the inherent beauty and historical importance of monumental architecture in Mycenaean Greece, the inlaid vessels of the Zhou Dynasty China, bronze mirrors of early Celtic Britain, carved and woven ornament of Native Americans, beautiful silk textiles from France and Islam, tapestries and ceramics to a collage by Matisse whose contribution to ornament is often neglected or misunderstood. A masterly and concise survey, 224pp in heavyweight softback, dripping with colour and other illus.

Very good

Although the iconographic contents would deserve a much larger size, the print quality is quite good. As for the text, it really is a masterly and concise survey. The bibliography also offers hints for further reading on the subject.
