A 75 minute colour film entitled 'Mohawk' set in the 18th century. American artist Jonathan Adams played by Scott Brady is working in Mohawk territory where he paints the local scenery. Before long he meets and falls in love with a Native American woman named Onida played by Rita Gam, but the couple?s happiness is interrupted when land tycoon Butler (John Hoyt) deviously pits incoming white settlers against the Mohawk people. Jonathan and his lover are caught in the middle of a violent feud and the natives become suspicious of the American living among them. First released in 1956, several sections of the plot are taken from the 1939 film 'Drums Along the Mohawk' and loosely refers to the 1778 Cherry Valley Massacre. Also in the gift box set is a 112 page book entitled North American Indian Wars which examines the conflict of the American-Indian wars from both sides. Includes chapters on the Sioux, Cheyenne and Apache warriors like Sitting Bull pictured in 1885 among the beautiful images of indigenous people in photographs throughout the text. It also looks at General Custer's famous Last Stand at the Battle of the Little Bighorn.
