Find motivation through the wisdom of Leo Tolstoy, Albert Camus, Edward Young and Victor Hugo. Artist and designer Ryan McArthur has put together beautiful images to accompany pensive thoughts including Leigh Hunt's meditation: "The beautiful attracts the beautiful" which is illustrated by a sprouting seed standing tall in the earth and Charles Reade's thought "Art is not imitation, but illusion" where the word 'art' is mirrored to 'imitate' itself. The quotes celebrate different aspects of life, from creativity, such a Friedrich Nietzsche's idea that, "without music, life would be a mistake" and Leonardo Da Vinci's "the painter has the Universe in his mind and hands", to resilience, such as Frederick Douglas' thought that "if there is no struggle, there is no progress". Every quote is accompanied by explanations about the author and the quote, whether that is contextualising William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and how music is the food of life, offering evidence of Thomas Edison's own hard work to back up his exclamation "Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration", or highlighting how Enlightenment expert Peter Gay's quotation on life as a shipwreck is in fact a rumination on Voltaire's Candide.
