CRACKED: Why Psychiatry Is Doing More Harm Than Good

CRACKED: Why Psychiatry Is Doing More Harm Than Good

JAMES DAVIES    Book Number: 89095    Product format: Paperback

Psychiatry is big business and more than 50 million antidepressant prescriptions are written each year in England alone. Why, without solid scientific justification, has the number of mental disorders risen from 106 in 1952 to around 370 today? The book has been marketed as 'Should be read by every doctor...By everyone in politics and the media, not to mention any concerned citizen.' - Peter Hitchens. Controversial and powerful, it is a shocking indictment of the pseudo-science at the heart of modern psychiatry. It takes a profoundly disturbing look at the world of Big Pharma and builds a disturbing picture of a profession that is in thrall to pharmaceutical companies. Psychological therapist James Davies uses his insider knowledge to illustrate how psychiatry has put riches and medical status above patients' well-being. With a damning charge sheet - negative drug trials buried, antidepressants that are no better than placebos, manipulated research - he reveals the true human cost of an industry that, in the name of helping others, has actually been helping itself. 327pp, paperback.

Before reading this I always believed that Psychiatry was a sham especially in regards to diagnosing youngsters with ADHD when they would be much better integrated into society via Main Stream schooling and more assistance with parents given more help to accepting the diagnosis. I couldn't put it down and think EVERY GP AND MEMBERS OF PUBLIC SHOUL READ IT!!
