ROGER DALTRY: THANKS A LOT MR KIBBLEWHITE: My Story

ROGER DALTREY    Book Number: 87423    Product format: Hardback

My Generation! Roger Daltrey was THE voice, the front man of The Who and this is his story of My Generation, Tommy and Quadrophenia, of smashed guitars, exploding drums, cars in swimming pools, fights, arrests and redecorated hotel rooms. It is also the story of how that post-war generation redefined the rules of youth. Out of that the modern music industry was born. Money, drugs and useful exuberance were a dangerous mix and this is as much a story of survival as it is of success. Here is the story of Roger's birth at the height of the Blitz, tempestuous school days, expulsion at the age of 15, various crimes and misdemeanours within a strict school system. Thanks to Mr Kibblewhite his authoritarian headmaster, it could have all ended there and the life of a factory worker beckoned. But then came rock 'n' roll and Roger made his first guitar from factory cut-offs, formed a band and that band became The Who, one of the biggest Mod and then rock bands on the planet. Here is a hilarious and frank account of over 60 wild years and taking to the stage thousands of times. Renowned for his energetic performances with his three bandmates Pete Townshend, John Entwistle and Keith Moon, plus nine solo albums and starring in several films, come See Me, Hear Me! 345pp, photos, including colour.

A Rockin' Good Read!
from John Robinson on 25/03/2020
Really enjoyed this account of Roger Daltrey and The Who's experiences, written from the heart and packed with interesting tales of those riotous years. One of the best biographies I have read.
