TRANSVESTITE MEMOIRS

ABBÉ DE CHOISY    Book Number: 80941    Product format: Paperback

Dressed as a girl by the whim of his mother until the age of 18, François Timoléen de Choisy, better known as the Abbé de Choisy, was the classic transvestite - a male heterosexual who never attempted to disguise his biological sex while going about in public in full female attire. Eventually falling foul of Parisian society for his increasingly extravagant behaviour, he became Abbot of Saint Seine in Burgundy where he continued to delight in extravagantly feminine attire and in the seduction of young women who were obliged to dress as boys for his delectation. In a light, intimate and accessible style, these Memoirs recount the scandalous and entertaining escapades for which Choisy is best known and give a first hand account of manners and morals in late 17th century French society. They constitute a remarkable document in the history of transvestism. Also included in the volume is a short transvestite tale of the Marquis-Marquise de Banneville, thought to have been written by Choisy in collaboration with Charles Perrault, author of Sleeping Beauty. This erotic masquerade is the stuff of adult fairy tales. 142pp in paperback reprint of the 1973 original. Illus.
